At Jarama circuit on Monday, the EG 0,0 Marc VDS structure presented their 2018 team across all classes – including their duo fielded in the Moto3™ World Championship, Aron Canet and Alonso Lopez. Canet, who took his first win last season, will be gunning for the title from the off – and Lopez, his rookie teammate, has a good man in the garage to learn from as he begins his adventure on the world stage.
“I think the best thing is to take on each race one at a time, to be in front in each session, practice and qualifying,” begins Canet. “Then I need to get the best positions I can in the race, gathering points bit by bit, and then if we can fight for the title at the end, we will. Being a favourite is a good sign and it means you’ve done work over the last few years!”
Canet went on to pick out Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) and Enea Bastianini (Leopard Racing) as two of the men he expects to fight with for that honour this season, before Lopez took to the mic.
“I think knowing the team and how they work is a help,” says Lopez as he gets ready to move up. “My objective is simple: learn as much as I can, and always give 100%.”
