On Friday evening, the Redox Pruestel GP Team presented itself in front of all its sponsors and partners in a new formation at the Sachsenring. Pruestel Logistics - the head and the heart behind the Redox PruestelGP team strives for innovation and sustainably shapes the future of the logistics industry through efficient transport logistics and in the coming season with a special design also the motorcycles of the Sachsenring squad.
With new recruit Filip Salac, the team from the Sachsenring welcomes another Czech rider in the team. The rider pairing has great ambitions to built upon the success of the team from 2018. Stefan Kirsch, also a new member of the team, has been coaching Philipp Oettl in the Moto3 World Championship for the past few years and is now the new crew chief for the rookie Salac.
Jakub Kornfeil will already be competing in his third season in the Saxon racing team. After the Czech rider achieved his best ever World Championship result last year in front of his home crowd at the Grand Prix in Brno, the experienced pilot wants to constantly finish in the top5.
Next to him, his compatriot and Moto3™ rookie, Filip Salac will take a seat on the brand new Moto3™ KTM. The young Czech is coming from the Red Bull Rookies Cup to the Redox PruestelGP Team. Salac was already able to compete in the Moto3 World Championship as a wild card rider at his home race in Brno. Team boss, Florian Pruestel, watched the up-coming talent for nearly two years before the rider from Prague signed on to the German Moto3 team. With the 17-year-old Czech, the team from Sachsenring wins a young, ambitious pilot and remains faithful to giving new talents a chance.
Next week, the Saxon racing team will already be heading to Valencia for the first of two private pre-season tests. For Salac it will be the first time to roll out of the box on his new Moto3™ KTM. Due to the fact that some opponents have moved up Moto2™, the experienced Kornfeil sees great opportunities to achieve his seasonal goal. But before the first World Championship points will be won in Qatar on March 10, the new KTM machine will be pushed to its limits in the upcoming three tests. Especially the official IRTA test in southern Spain in Jerez de la Frontera from 20th - 22nd February will clarify where the team stands in direct comparison to the other competitors.
Jakub Kornfeil: “It's my third year in this team and it shows me that they still believe in me and that they like my riding style, my mentality and behaviour. I am honestly happy to continue with this Team. I think we can achieve great results again. We are definitely ready to attack and I am happy to have my crew with me this year, although there has been a change of one mechanic that I would have liked to keep. We will fight strong again. Many fast riders moved out of the Moto3 championship, which could make it easier for us. I feel ready for the season and our target is really high and I hope we constantly make it to the top 5 or even top 3. That's our goal but we need to make a strong first part of the season, because if you are within the front from the beginning it surely is much easier. I happy to stay with this team because I know the team structure, the feeling, I know the people and the owners well and that's an important factor for a rider which I know from the past when I was changing teams many times. I am looking forward to continuing with this great team and the people around. I would like to thank everyone for supporting us, may it be materially or financially, I love the Redox PrüstelGP family and I am really looking forward to the 1st of February to unveil our new bikes.”
Filip Salac: “I'm really happy that I can ride with Redox PrüstelGP in Moto3 this year. It's every riders dream to make it to the world championship. I am extremely happy to be in this team because I think it is one of the most competitive Teams of the Moto3 category. Last year the Team was fighting for the championship and I know that they can repeat that in 2019. My plan for this is season is to become Rookie of the year and to make it to top ten in every race or be within the front but we will see after the first tests and races where we stand. I think it will be good because I was training hard all winter here in Spain. I spent a lot of time on the bike and bicycle, so we will see how I manage. I want to say thank you to everyone for this opportunity, to our partners and my family for their support.”
Florian Pruestel (Managing Director): “We are looking forward to the new season and I think we have set very high standards in Moto3 last year. We built a big fan base here in the region and we would like to keep and expand it. We have a young Czech rider from the Red Bull Rookies Cup in our team this year and we want to start strong with him. Of course we hope that he will be rookie of the year. This is a high goal, but we and Filip are aiming for that. We have been able to sign with Jakub for the third consecutive year and we expect a lot from him because he is an experienced rider in Moto3. This season we have set the goal to consistently finish in the top 5 with him. I would like to thank all sponsors who support us in 2019. We are pleased to have gained new partners because that shows us that motorcycle racing is positively accepted and supported in Germany. At the same time we are proud to be able to keep many of the existing sponsors for years. The team will again give the absolute maximum this year and of course we would like to build upon the success of last season.”
