The sun was back out on Sunday morning, but the wind had picked up a little at the Red Bull Grand Prix of Americas as the MotoGP™ field headed back out for Warm Up. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) retained the top of the timesheets though, with his closest competition proving 2022 title rival Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™). The Frenchman is looking for some big points on Sunday after sliding out from the Tissot Sprint.
It was a drama-free session until the final couple of minutes, with a crash for Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) at Turn 1 then bringing out the first yellows, rider ok. There was then a somewhat rare fall for Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) at Turn 6, but the number 12 was able to get back on and still finished the session in fourth – just behind Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP™ Team).
A KTM combo of Brad Binder and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Jack Miller slotted into fifth and sixth, ahead of Saturday showman Alex Rins (LCR Honda Castrol) and Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing), the latter of whom who will want a lot more from Sunday after a lowly P11 in the Sprint.
Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) was the third and final faller, going down at Turn 16, rider also ok. He was ninth on the Warm Up timesheets ahead of Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu).
Now the field will get suited and booted to saddle up for the Grand Prix race in a few hours, with lights out at 14:00 (GMT -5) local time!
