MotoGP™ is about to experience one of the most exciting weekends of the year at the iconic exciting Phillip Island circuit as the celebration of the Guru By Gryfyn MotoGP™ Grand Prix of Australia is set to get underway with the title battle in full swing.
The Dream Team in Mandalika
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) had an outstanding performance in Sunday's race, winning from 13th on the grid to score an impressive 56 points in Indonesia and become by far the most prolific rider of the 15th round of the year. The second Gold rider was Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing), who scored 35.5 points. Behind him, Alex Rins (LCR Honda Castrol) and Fabio Quartarararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) were the best bets, as they both scored 31 and 30.5 points respectively in Mandalika.
As for the manufacturers, it was no surprise that Ducati posted the best performance with an average of 42.5 points, well helped by its Ducati Lenovo Team and its 41.75 units.
Who will reign supreme on the Island?
With the fast and flowing nature of the Aussie circuit, Maverick Viñales (2.6M) is certainly a name that cannot be discounted as a strong option for your MotoGP™ Fantasy team. With a fantastic second place in Mandalika, 'Top Gun' heads to a circuit where he has seen good results in the past. The situation is very similar for Alex Rins (2.1M). The last winner at Phillip Island, the Spaniard showed in Indonesia that he hasn't lost any of his talent as he scored his first Top 10 upon his return from injury. Victorious in Austin at the beginning of the year, will the Spaniard be able to join the game again for victory this time?
So, it's impossible to talk about Phillip Island without mentioning Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team). Although he did not score in Mandalika, he was in excellent form. Priced at 2.3M, it is difficult to ignore the fact that the former World Champion has picked up plenty of silverware in Australia where he has triumphed on three occasions in the premier class. Although he is not the favourite, the Honda rider will be one of the riders to follow, like local hero Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). The KTM rider will strive to win ahead of his home crowd as he seeks revenge after a tormenting Australian GP in 2022. The Aussie is priced at 2.1M.
Lastly, the title fighters must be taken into account. Pecco Bagnaia, who recorded a legendary victory from the 13th on the grid last week, has regained his confidence after a short period of doubt and is still one of the big favorites at the end of the week. His rival for the crown, Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), has been in some incredible fall as of late and will be out to make amends after a serious mistake in Indonesia saw him crash out of the lead. The 'Martinator' is priced at 4.7M, compared to Bagnaia's 4.9M. Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) cannot be discounted either. The Italian recorded an excellent fifth place in Mandalika just one day after surgery for a clavicle fracture. The Italian has taken time to recover and without a doubt, he will be in the battle for victory. The Mooney VR46 pilot can be a part of your Fantasy team for 4.1M.
