Acosta tips off title attack with P1 in Thailand

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider takes the top spot ahead his first match point, edging out Aldeguer and Foggia

It's a match point for Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) at the OR Thailand Grand Prix as he prepares for his first opportunity to seal the 2023 Moto2™ title. The Spaniard started the weekend in perfect form as he took full control of Friday morning's Practice 1 session with a solid 1:36.266. Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) got his weekend off to a fast start as well as he continued his strong form from Phillip Island to take P2, with Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team) taking the final place in the top three after an impressive late-session charge.

Ai Ogura (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) got a good start to his weekend as he took P4 ahead of Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team), who rounded out the top five as he aims to stop Acosta wrapping up the crown. Aron Canet (Pons Wegow Los40) started his weekend in Thailand in 6th position with the home hero Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) hot on his tail in P7. Jake Dixon (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team) recovered from an early-session tumble to take P8, with Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team) and Albert Arenas (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rounding out the top ten.

There's still plenty of Moto2™ action on its way in Buriram. Make sure to tune in as the story unfolds with Practice 2 at 14:05 local time (GMT +7).
