Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools SpeedUp) was riding on another level as the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar got underway with Friday afternoon's Practice 1 session. The SpeedUp rider took his Boscoscuro machine to the top of the timesheets with his 2:01.097, putting him 0.343s clear of the field. Manuel Gonzalez (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Mastercamp) was fast from the off as well and even threatened Aldeguer's top spot at times, but didn't quite have enough in the tank as he took 2nd place. It was the three Spaniards of Aldeguer, Gonzalez, and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who led the way for the majority of the session until Jake Dixon (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team) put his name in the mix to finish 0.671s shy of the top spot in P3.

Acosta settled for 4th place in the end as the newly crowned Moto2™ World Champion missed out on the top three by 0.046s, with Alex Escrig (Forward Team) enjoying a very positive session as he rounded out the top five.
There's still plenty of Moto2™ action on its way in Qatar. Make sure to tune in as the story unfolds with Practice 2 at 19:05 local time (GMT +3).
