Advantage Martin as Bagnaia bags top three

The Spaniard took the top spot in the opening Free Practice session as the title battle heads under the floodlights

It's #PECCOvsMARTIN as the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar got underway ahead of what could potentially be a title-deciding weekend. It was the chaser Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) who drew first blood at the Lusail International Circuit as his 1:56.393 saw 'The Martinator' take psychological advantage over his title rival as he took the top spot by 0.172s. The Spaniard's teammate Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing) joined him at the sharp end as a late run of form saw the Frenchman bag 2nd place, with title leader Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) 0.229s away from his rival in P3.

Raul Fernandez (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP™) was looking good in Lusail and finished just 0.063s away from the top three. The Spaniard took 4th place ahead of Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) who took his Yamaha M1 to 5th place.

There are Q2 spots up for grabs later on as Practice for MotoGP™ is set to commence at 15:00 local time (GMT +3). With the title battle heating up, make sure not to miss any of the action on motogp.com!
